This is My first mood board, These are images that i have taken off the internet that represent hip hop. As you can see i have analysed the pictures and stated how they are related to hip hop.

These pictures portray hip hop and are very representative of the theme of my music magazine. This means that some of these pictures or my own pictures that are similar to these may be used on my music magazine.

These images have been included as they are extremely interesting and have inspired me to create my own music magazine in hip hop 

There is a different mixture of colours included in the pictures i have chosen however they are mainly bright bold colours that are exiting and pleasing on the eye.

Music Magazine Planning: Peer/Self-Assessment

P: Miss Dee interviewed  me and my feedback was that I have a good idea
for what I want my music magazine to be about.  She said that the house colours that I am using are good because they resembled what my magazine is about.

Miss Dee also asked about the images that I will be using in my magazine and she went on to say that they link in well with RnB genre. The images are iconic in the fact they are of great well known artists.

I presented my magazine to my form and they said that it catches the eye and most of them said that they would purchase my magazine because it looked really interesting and it suits the genre of music they listen to. This means that my target audience would buy my magazine.

Monday 5th December - Brand Identity - Thinking about how a brand sells itself and speaks to an audience




Today we analysed Heat magazine and highlighted key facts and figures and background information on the magazine brand, owned by Bauer Media. Then we converted that information onto this sheet. Its splits the brand into 4 different categories and it gives us a clear idea about what audience Heat target and what Heat are about, the message they want their audience to have. Using this sheet gives you a clear understanding of Heat's ideology which gives me inspiration for my own magazine and enables me to understand how to plan to cater for my audience.





We analysed the brand identity of a second, non music magazine.  This brand identity is for the gossip and lifestyle magazine called Closer. I made this magazine brand identity sheet to again help me to organise information more efficiently and understand its ideology. This will give me a better understanding about what the magazine's target audience is and how the magazine benefits its readers.

Audience Research

We created a magazine survey to give us a better understanding about what we will need to do to improve our music magazine, this also gives us a better understanding about what we need to do to cater for our target audience.

This is my first draft of a questionnaire.  I did this to gain more information about what my target audience wants from my music magazine.

This draft was done as a developed and improved copy of my first draft because by making my first draft, I managed to find some improvements to my questions using Hartley's Classification categories.

First magazine cover mock up









This is the first edition of my music magazine 'mock up' cover. This is a idea of what my front cover could look like eventually and gives me a chance to look at it and make improvements if needed.  All images are original and taken during our photoshoot experience with professional photographer Jemma Mellor.
